Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch on June 26, 2020. Neither Twitch nor Dr Disrespect has ever gone into the reason behind the seemingly permanent ban. However, Twitch released a statement after the ban. It stated, “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community”

It has never been specified exactly what Community Guidelines or Terms of Service Dr Disrespect violated. In fact, the streamer himself tweeted that he had no idea about the reason behind his ban.

This remained his stance until August 2021 when Dr Disrespect announced that he has known the reason behind his ban for months. He also hinted at legal action against Twitch. In March 2022, the streamer tweeted out that his legal dispute with Twitch has been resolved.

However, it does not seem like Twitch is willing to take kindly to other streamers streaming Dr Disrespect’s content durig their livestream. A popular Twitch streamer was recently banned for this reason.

Why Was Chess Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura Banned From Twitch?

Hikaru Nakamura is a Chess Grandmaster and Twitch streamer. However, he was recently banned from the platform for streaming a chess game between Dr Disrespect and Dr Lupo.

“Today I was banned from Twitch because I showed some chess games that were being played between Dr Disrespect and Dr Lupo on YouTube the other day,” Nakamura shared in a video on his YouTube channel. Further addressing the situation on Twitter, he said, “The Doc tweeted that things are settled with Twitch… guess he was wrong. See everyone in 3 days.”

This is in reference to the three day ban that Hikaru Nakamura has been served by Twitch. It is prohibited to stream a banned Twitch streamer’s content on the platform. Therefore, the ban isn’t completely out of the left field.
