Niantic has finally made an announcement about Pokemon Go Fest 2021 but similar to last year, it will be a total online-only celebration. They may have announced the date of Pokemon Go Fest but they have not yet mentioned whether it will be a shop ticket event like we witnessed last year or an in-person event.
In a statement released by Niantic, they have confirmed that Pokemon Go Fest 2021 will take place on July 16 and 17. The launch date of Pokemon Go Fest 2021 will mark the fifth anniversary of Pokemon Go’s launch.
For the unversed, the upcoming event will be the fifth Pokemon Go Fest. The first Pokemon Go Fest event held in Chicago and later they expanded it to multiple countries such as Dortmund, Germany, and Yokohama, Japan.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the organizers of the event were forced to organize Pokemon Go Fest 2020 online and it was a massive hit.
According to the statement, Global Challenges will make a comeback, which will incentivize players to coordinate with their friends to catch specific Pokemon, take part in raids and finish friend-specific tasks like opening gifts to claim rewards and special encounters.
In their promotional banner, Niantic has mentioned that they will keep players updated with additional information regarding Pokemon Go Fest 21 when the right time arrives. Unlike the last year, it is likely that this upcoming event will feature a musical theme.
As they have mentioned in Pokemon’s 25th anniversary, there are chances that Pokemon Go Fest 2021 will celebrate the history of the Pokémon franchise.
