Complete the Rune Mysteries Quest

When you complete the Rune Mysteries Quest, you are rewarded with the Runecrafting Skill. Although the quest is pretty easy, it requires you to walk to the Lumbridge castle and talk to the Duke of Lumbridge. There you will learn how to craft Runes from the Wizard Sedridor, who will be in the basement.

Collect Essence from Rocks

To craft Runes you will require –

  • Rune essence (ess).
  • Pick an axe to mine “ess” out of rocks.
  • Find such rocks by teleporting to the underground mines.
  • You can teleport there by taking to NPCs like
    • Aubury
    • Wizard Distentor
    • Wizard Cromperty
    • Brimstail
    • Wizard Sedridor
    • Level 23 Banshee

Spawn for Talismans and Tiaras

  • You will also require Talismans.
  • Kill monsters or buy Talismans from other players.
  • There are different kinds of Runes, so the Talisman also needs to match the element of the Rune.
  • Talismans are usually dropped by
    • Wizards
    • Goblins
    • Dark Wizards
  • They can also be obtained from
    • Hobgoblins
    • Skeletons
    • Monsters
    • Dark Beasts, and many others.
  • You will then require an un-enchanted Tiara (optional)
  • For this, you will require the Air Talisman.

Locate Rune Altars

The Final step is to look for an Altar to craft Runes. You will require the Talisman to enter the altars and a Tiara to enter the Air altar. There are specfic altars designed for specific Elemental Runes.

  • Air Altar for Air Runes – Northeast of Crafting Guild.
  • Water ALtar for Water Runes – South of Lumbridge in the swamps.
  • Mind Altar for Mind Runes – Between Ice Mountain and Goblin Village.
  • Earth Altar for Earth Runes – Northeast of Varrock.
  • Cosmic Altar for Cosmic Runes – The southern part of the Lost City.
  • Fire Altar for Fire Runes – Northeast of Al Kharid.
  • Body Altar for Body Runes – South of the Monastery.
  • Nature ALtar for Nature Runes – North of Shilo Village.
  • Death Altar for Death Runes – Mourning’s End Part 2 temple.
  • Law Altar for Law Runes – Northern part of Entrana.
  • Chaos Altar for Chaos Runes – Northwest of Edgeville.

Furthermore, to craft Cosmic, Chaos, Nature, Death, and Law Runes you will require pure essence, the other types of Runes can be crafted with normal essence. You will also require to be at different levels with better experience to craft different runes.
