How to Kill Death in Vampire Survivors (with No Cheats)

Vampire Survivors: Can You Kill Death?

Before, you could only kill Death through cheats. But now, you can do it without them! With a bit of practice, patience, knowledge and some luck, you’ll be able to kill death before it gets to you. Here are the steps to kill Death in Vampire Survivors.

Pick Clerici and the Library Level

If you want to beat Death in Vampire Survivors, then these two are a must. Use Clerici and play the Library level. Go up and left to get the green XP gem on the table and try to roll ‘Runetracer’. If you don’t get it then don’t waste your rerolls and simply restart the level till you get it. Annoying? This is just the start.

Once you have the Runetracer, dash off to the enclosed space up top. Here, you will find a table, some chairs, two bookshelves, and a clock and painting on the wall. Now, what you will need to do is line up Clerici so that her right-hand lines up with the clock and her left lines up with the painting. Make sure that she is just above the leftmost chair as you do this and keep still.

The reason why you need Clerici among many is that she has a temporary area bonus that is much more powerful than what you would get normally. The area bonus is one that gets smaller and smaller the higher you level up. Which is quite tricky to handle, so try to stay at level 2 as much as you can. Use the giant Runetracer to stick to furniture and become a shield that will keep Clerici safe from every angle. Make sure that you don’t pick up XP as well. And definitely make sure that your power-ups are in line with these goals as well. Don’t worry, you will have treasure chests to make up for the lack of good stuff in your pocket.

Wait for a Red Stone

You need to make sure that you watch out for a red stone, as getting one is key to winning this whole thing. You may be wondering, what if you don’t get a red stone in the first three minutes? Well, if that’s the case then you’re just going to have to restart the entire level again. We know, it’s the worst but there is no time to waste here. I mean, apart from the time that you were already wasting.

The red gem allows you to do anything you want. And you need to make sure that it is waiting for you when you’re done with your 30 minutes.  Of course, once your half an hour is done, you will have to fight for your life but that time before is definitely a need.

Run

As soon as the clock hits 30:00, like the literal second that it hits 30, all of your enemies will disappear and you will have to get out ASAP. Why? Because Death will come and you really need that red gem. Of course, you’ll collect other gems and maybe a chest or two on the way but it’s no big deal. Just get to the red gem as fast as you can so that you’re safe.

Grab Certain Items

Now, you will be speeding through levels and grabbing a select few items that you will absolutely need. Hence why the Reroll wasn’t wasted before. Some items are necessary, others are ‘just in case’ and still others are a definite no. Here are the lists for the same:

Necessary Just in Case Do Not Touch
Santa Water & Runetracer (upgrade) Bone Fire Wand
Laurel Knife
Clock Lancet Duplicator Ring
Bracer Spinach
Candelabrador Magic Wand
Spellbinder Cross
Empty Tome Attractorb (to evolve Santa Water)
Tiragisú

Run Fast (Again)

Now, as soon as you touch the red gem, you will have to go straight back to where you came from. You know, the place that you set up your loadout. Right, that place. Remember, patience is important here. Once back to the table enclosure, make sure to go further back in and stand between the table and the right chair. Here, you will line Clerici’s right hand with the painting but be sure that you aim your knife down.

You know that everything is going well if Death gets stuck on the table. Not you can safely stand where you are and inflict as much damage on Death as possible. Do. Not. Move. If you need to aim your knives differently then just nudge it enough to aim down below. This is the most crucial time to kill Death in Vampire Survivors.

The Final Bought

To explain the previous steps a bit, you will have to understand that we just took advantage of Death’s stats. The way that this works is that when Death spawns, it will have stats that scale to your level. And so, by leaving your XP for the end, you have tricked Death and tipped the numbers in your favour. But don’t get too happy about this. A minute later, a second, more powerful Death will spawn and after that, a third. Really makes you think about whether all of this was worth it or not, huh?

But don’t worry too much! Deaths two and three will be stuck on the leftmost bookshelf because of your Clock Lancet. Your weapons are going to be able to hit all of the Deaths from where you are and so, you can use them to pelt all three Deaths as you hope to do enough damage before they come after you.

When the third Death comes, he usually shoves the second Death in to kill you off. Yes, you may be able to kill Death in Vampire Survivors but you really can’t beat it at its own game. If the first Death blips out then congratulations! You’ve killed Death! You still have to lose though so it probably sucks to be you rn. But at least you now have the Mask of the Red Death! Which is by far the best among all of the playable characters in the game. It may not be as good as the real thing but it sure is a beast out there.
