What Are TFT Ranks?
While the TFT ranks system is very similar to League of Legends, there is a major difference. There is no minimum level requirement to play ranked in TFT. This is great news for players that want to start climbing up the ranking system right away. Moreover, players can also team up with friends to play ranked. Those with a Gold or lower ranking can queue in parties of five while Platinum and above players can queue in parties of three. Much like LoL, TFT also has nine different ranks. These are listed below.
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
- Challenger
How To Get Promoted In TFT?
Players will get promoted to the next rank by earning LP. To win LP, players will have to win or at least place in the top four. While the winner gets the most LP, the remaining top three also get some LP as a reward. On the flip side, players that do not place in the top four will lose LP. The lower players rank, the more LP they will lose. This means that players will not only have to focus on winning the game but will also have to avoid landing in the bottom tier.
Players will start with the lowest TFT rank in the IV division. As they progress through the game, they will earn LP. Once they have earned 100 LP, players will be promoted to the next division. However, the grind does not end there. In case players lose LP points, they also stand to get demoted to a lower rank. This can happen if their LP has fallen below zero. Once players have reached division I, they can move up in the TFT ranks. If players make it to the top in the Grandmaster or Challenger ranks, they will need to play regularly. If they are absent, their rank will start going down. This has been done to maintain the exclusivity of the higher ranks and the number of players in these ranks depends on the region where players are.
How Long Will The TFT Seasons Be?
TFT seasons will be a lot shorter in comparison to LoL. They last around four months at a time and each season is associated with a new set. The first TFT Season began in November 2019 and went up till March 2020. Similarly, the second season began on September 18, 2020, and wrapped up in January 2021. Players’ ranks will reset at the end of every season and they will get season rewards according to their rank. Then, they will have to climb the ranks all over again for the start of a new season. In order to qualify for the end-of-season rewards, players will need to reach at least Gold or higher.
What Is MMR In TFT?
MMR stands for Matchmaking Rating and it helps match players with opponents that are on a similar level in their rank. If a player’s MMR is higher than the average MMR of the rank, they will progress faster through the game and earn more LP for victories. They will also lose LP at a slower rate for inactivity and losing. MMR is important so that new players don’t get bludgeoned by the experienced players in their division. However, there is no way for players to check their MMR level in TFT.
