This strange item comes with a quest called the ‘Lost Souvenir’, and it has a tricky riddle that most of Destiny 2 players are finding it hard to get solved.

The ‘Lost Souvenir’ Destiny 2 quest gives Guardian an item the Obsidian Accelerator as a reward. You will also earn an Obsidian Dreams emblem. Notably, the Obsidian Accelerator is quite special — bring it to Ada-1 in the tower, and you will be able to enhance Black Armory weapons.
How To Solve The ‘Lost Souvenir’ Puzzle | Mysterious Datapad Quest Guide
The Lost Souvenir Destiny 2 quest is available from the Mysterious Datapad that is dropped during the Mysterious Box quest, which also gets you the Izanagi’s Burden Sniper Rifle, which is very essential to solve ‘Lost Souvenir quest.
The riddle is actually related to a new Black Armory location, Niobe Labs in the EDZ, located south of the Sojourner’s Camp, down the ruined bridge on the southern part of the map. When you get there, you need to have the following weapons:
- Spiteful Fang Bow
- Tatara Gaze Sniper Rifle
- Hammerhead Machine Gun
If you don’t have these weapons, don’t fret, you can obtain them by unlocking each of the first three forges (Volundr, Gofannon, Izanami) — each one is required to shoot certain symbols in Niobe Labs.
In order to activate ‘Lost Souvenir Destiny 2 quest’, you need to go to the centre of Niobe Labs first and then interact with a Switch under the central platform. As soon as the quest begins, you will have to shoot seven symbols located around the labs’ area. For every symbol, you wil have to shoot it with the correct weapon.
NOTE: The symbols will only be visible when you aim the proper weapon at the correct location.
- Paper Missive (Bow)
- Just as you start, look on the blue display on the pillar. On the south face.
- Stormy Cloud (Machine Gun)
- On the pillar to the right of the previous one, very high up. On the west face.
- Temple Arch (Sniper Rifle)
- On the back-right pillar. Also high up. On the south face.
- Morning Sunrise (Bow)
- On the floor, to the right of the Paper Missive pillar.
- Star (Machine Gun)
- On the floor, on the raised balcony. In the center, between the two pillars.
- Hand (Machine Gun)
- On the floor, to the right of the Star symbol.
- Black Armory (Sniper Rifle)
- On the ceiling of the platform with the Star / Hand. Drop down to see it.
Once you have managed to shoot the symbols correctly, waves of invulnerable Taken will be displayed. They all have shields that can only be damaged with the Izanagi’s Burden Sniper Rifle. After destroying the shield, you would not need to have a specific rifle to damage them but it is Izanagi’s Burden Sniper Rifle that can be used to kill them.
When you reach the final step of this quest, you will have to earn Forge Essence.
How to Earn Forge Essence
In order to earn Forge Essence, you need to complete the Volundr, Gofannon, Izanami, and Bergusia Forges while wearing any full Black Armory armour set and using only Black Armory weapons.
Once you are done completing all fourForges with the Black Armory gear equipped, the quest is completed. For completing this quest, you will be given an Obsidian Accelerator as a reward that you use to enhance Black Armory weapons.
This might not be a great reward but you will know the importance of it.
