JetSynthesys And Warner Music India To Launch EkWomen, A Podcasting And Networking Platform For Women Of The South Asian Diaspora, To Be Aired On Spotify

  • EkWomen features prominent personalities across diverse sectors who’ve followed their passion – Chef Maneet Chauhan (Judge on the Chopped show); Shalini Vadhera, (celebrity make-up artist and entrepreneur); Payal Kadakia, (ClassPass founder, dancer and novelist); Ira Trivedi, (yogini and novelist); (Teach For India’s founder) Shaheen Mistri; (Leading UK Muslim female comic) Shazia Mirza; (Kama Sutra expert, storyteller and mythologist), Seema Anand; (philanthropist and humanitarian) Meera Gandhi; (renowned artist) Sujata Bajaj; (Pulitzer award-winning journalist and Dean of Berkeley School of Journalism), Geeta Anand; (author, activist and academic) Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, to name a few.
  • EkWomen will kickstart operations with a series of podcasts to be aired on Spotify featuring inspirational women achievers. In the next phase, it plans to add community building and on-the-ground networking sessions across several countries including India.

New-age digital entertainment and technology company JetSynthesys, in association with Warner Music India, today announced the launch of its podcast, EkWomen, to be aired on Spotify. ‘Ek’ is the Hindi word for ‘one’, so the platform aims to ‘bring together women of the diaspora as one’.

EkWomen is conceived and produced by JetSynthesys’ Medha Jaishankar and Monika Patel – (former producer at BBC World and consultant at Reliance Entertainment; and journalist/host Midday, Uppercrust and JetSynthesys’ Daily Hinduism video series and Mata Monique podcasts respectively).

The EkWomen podcast addresses a lacuna in the podcast world, creating a global sisterhood, by sharing uplifting stories of the struggles and success faced by diaspora women of South Asian heritage.

The interviewees include – Chef Maneet Chauhan Judge on the Chopped show; Shalini Vadhera, celebrity make-up artist and entrepreneur; Payal Kadakia, ClassPass founder, dancer and novelist; Ira Trivedi, yogini and novelist; Teach For India’s founder Shaheen Mistri; Leading UK Muslim female comic Shazia Mirza; Kama Sutra expert, storyteller and mythologist, Seema Anand; philanthropist and humanitarian Meera Gandhi; renowned artist Sujata Bajaj; Pulitzer award-winning journalist and Dean of Berkeley School of Journalism, Geeta Anand; and author, activist and academic Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.
