The short answer to the question is yes. Players can get banned for using a controller on an android device while playing Genshin Impact. Since it is not possible to use a controller in the game officially, players will have to use third-party apps to do so. The developers of the game strongly discourage this. They do ban accounts of users that are found using third-party apps in the game.
The whole Genshin Impact community has been calling for controller support to be introduced for Android devices. However, there is no official word from the developers that such a feature would be introduced to the game.
On the other hand, Genshin Impact does offer full controller support for iOS users. There is a little stipulation to this though. Players must have iOS 14 or higher to be able to avail of the full controller support. There are several controllers that iOS users can pick up to play the game like Xbox Wireless Controller (Bluetooth), PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, MiFi Bluetooth controllers, Razer Kishi, and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. However, players will have to change the in-game settings before they can use a controller in the ame though.
To do this, players can go to the Settings option and select Control Type. Here, players must click on the Controller option to replace the default Touch Screen option.
