As mentioned earlier, there are two kinds of Cape in No Man’s Sky. One is the Default Cape which is already unlocked and ready for use. The other one is the Outlaw Cape and initially it will be locked. You will have to unlock it by playing and completing the Expedition Six, The Blighted.
To get a Cape, you will have to go to Appearance Modifier which should be on your base. In case, if you don’t have an Appearance Modifier on your base, you can always visit the nearest space station. Over there, you can definitely find one.
In the Appearance Modifier, you have to click on the Customization tab and select the Backpack tab. In the Backpack tab, you will see the options of the Cape beneath Backpack Style. After selecting the Cape, you can choose the color of your Cape according to your choice with the help of a color scheme provided to you.
You have to keep a few things in mind after wearing a Cape in No Man’s Sky. One thing is that the Cape will replace your backpack. Another thing, your jetpack will disappear after you equip the Cape. But don’t fret, the jetpack will be present under the Cape, it’s just that you won’t be able to see it. You can still use the jetpack as before.
