What are the Match Types in Pokemon Unite? – Explained

Two Match Types in Pokemon Unite

There are two match types in Pokemon Unite. They are, namely, Random matches and CPU matches. Now, these types of matches are usually seen in Standard battles and Quick battles. These types are basically algorithms that carry out the matchmaking process.

Hence these types are not seen in Custom and Ranked battles because the algorithm for these modes is already set. Now, below, you will learn the difference between the two match types.

Random Match

The Random match type is a matchmaking algorithm that matches you with real players. This match type is the traditional way of playing online multiplayer games. The competition is real and you will have to give your best to defeat the opponent players. This match type is usually the default type.

CPU Match

Contradictory to the Random match type, the CPU match type arranges a match between your team and the opponent team of Bots. It is like playing against the computer. This match type is good to test your performance against other players as the gameplay would be simpler than the one with real players.

In both the match types, you can invite your in-game friends and fellow trainers to join you on your team. You can switch between these types from the drop-down list located right above the Start button. Simply click on the button and choose the match type you want to play in.
