You need one most important thing to add fish to garden pond in Tears of the Kingdom. And that thing is Mipha Amiibo. Mipha was included in the Breath of the Wild and is a part of TotK as well.

Now, before proceeding, you are expected to have a house and a garden pond. In case, you are new to this game, the garden pond doesn’t simply appear after buying a house. You have to create it separately by spending 300 Rupees.

As you purchase a garden pond, it comes with one Sanke Carp included. This fish keeps respawning after a certain period of time. To add fish to garden pond in TotK is a part of decorating your household and making it more lively.

You have to scan the Mipha Amiibo while being near to the garden pond. Only then you will see fishes spawning in the water. If you scan it anywhere else, you will be spawning dead fishes. You can eat those, so it is not a bad use of it either.

However, keep in mind that the new fishes will only be alive until you are in the house. If you leave the house, they will disappear. So, all the other fishes are temporary except for the Sanke Carp. It is going to stick with you until the end.
