Today, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced its celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, in EA SPORTS FIFA 23. From October 23-30, for the very first time the Diwali festival makes its debut in FIFA 23 across the console and PC versions of the game. The Diwali kit will also be available in FIFA Mobile through our official Discord community events.
The Diwali kit features short sleeve and long sleeve versions, adorned with many small details tied into important parts of the cultural festival. Players can also receive a Diwali stadium theme, a basic and large TIFO and a crest. The designs were all created in collaboration with Indian designer, Hariharan Kuppuswamy bringing his flair to the game for this celebration.
To celebrate this release, EA SPORTS FIFA has partnered with Bollywood Superstar, Kartik Aaryan as he has a strong connection to the festival. “Kartik has been a big FIFA fan for many years, so we’re excited that he can now celebrate Diwali in-game with other fans” said Amrit Berar, FIFA’s Global Social Influencers Manager. “It has been great to work with Kartik to amplify this special kit and collection in FIFA 23 and for FIFA to acknowledge and represent Diwali in game, which means so much to him and FIFA players all around the world.”
“Like many people around the world, I’m a big FIFA fan and have enjoyed playing the franchise over the years. So, being able to celebrate Diwali in-game and its cultural significance with the global gaming community is very special”, said Kartik Aaryan, an actor known for his roles in Dhamaka, Luka Chuppi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Working in Bollywood I try to help bring Indian culture to the world, and it is very touching to see EA SPORTS celebrate mine and so many others’ heritage in FIFA 23.”
To earn the Diwali event rewards players must log into FIFA23 from October 23 and complete the in-game Objectives which include playing 2 matches in any FUT game mode to unlock the TIFO, score 3 goals in any FUT game mode with the Diwali TIFO equipped to unlock the stadium theme and assist 3 goals in any FUT game mode with the Diwali TIFO equipped to unlock the crest. Completing all objectives will earn players the Diwali kit.
Diwali or Deepawali is the festival of lights celebrated across the world and marking the start of the Hindu New Year. It symbolizes victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. During this period people dress up in their finest of clothes, worship the Goddess Lakshmi, illuminate their homes with diyas and beautiful rangolis, exchange gifts such as sweets and dried fruits and get together for family feasts and celebrations.
EA SPORTS FIFA 23 features a variety of mode advancements and innovations across Career Mode, Pro Clubs, VOLTA FOOTBALL, FIFA 23 Ultimate Team and more. The new Training Center coaching system will also give new and less experienced players the ability to easily learn the fundamentals of gameplay and hone their skills before jumping into a match.
For the very first time, fans will also have the opportunity to play both the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cups in the same game, with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 with more details to come at a later date.
